The documentary, Catfish, received impressive blockbuster ratings from audience and critics. Despite being the talk of town, many questions were raised regarding its authenticity. Unlike a fictional movie, documentary is a reflection of reality. However, every major turn of the story was recorded with camera in detail. Such detail and editing in film making are usually the examples of fictional movies. On the contrary, it is possible that Nev remains as the subject of camera recording in daily life too as he is a part of today’s technology addicted century. Perhaps some emotions and scenes are included to spice up the documentary plot.

The story was confusing when it comes to relationship between Nev and Megan, which later tuned out to be a case of false identity on facebook. Nev was exploited in this story by Angela by using different pictures and fabricated messages to lure Nev. The exploitation occurred due to the abuse of social media, which made verification of the user quite difficult. This internet culture is a serious threat for the current generation where people can be exploited and fooled by predators using false identities.vf
